House of Lords appearance

June 2025

Newton co-founder Martin Heywood was honoured to be asked to give evidence to the House of Lords UK Engagement with Space Committee on 23 June 2025. The evidence session was specifically about the case for a UK sovereign launch capability and Dr Heywood was invited to answer questions on the UK small launcher market and the broader global market for small satellite launch. Newton has undertaken comprehensive small launcher commercial feasibility studies for over a decade and has an in-depth knowledge of the market for small satellite launch (which is nowhere near as positive as many people believe once the constellations are omitted). Other questions related to the sustainability of small satellite launch and the need for multiple spaceports in the UK.

The session was broadcast live on parliamentlive.tv and a recording is available here.
